Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen met with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman during a courtesy visit to the party leader’s office in Bashundhara, Dhaka on Tuesday.

Ambassador Yao Wen was accompanied by Zhang Jing, director of the Political Section at the Chinese Embassy.

According to a press statement from Jamaat, the meeting was held in a “cordial and friendly atmosphere.” Both sides reportedly discussed issues of mutual interest concerning bilateral cooperation.

They expressed hope that economic, political, trade, and diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China would deepen in the coming days.

Senior Jamaat leaders, including Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General and Head of Media Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer, and Foreign Affairs Adviser Professor Dr Mahmudul Hasan, were also present during the meeting.
