China’s AVIC Chengdu Aircraft Co. has reported record earnings for 2025, with a sharp rise in sales following heightened global attention during last year’s India–Pakistan conflict linked to Operation Sindoor.
According to a Bloomberg report, the Chengdu-based manufacturer said its annual revenue grew 15.8 percent to 75.4 billion yuan ($11 billion), while net profit rose 6.5 percent to 3.4 billion yuan.
Both figures represent the highest in the company’s history. The firm also recorded a near 80 percent year-on-year jump in first-quarter sales for 2026.
One of China’s largest defence companies by market value, AVIC Chengdu attributed its strong performance to an asset restructuring that now incorporates its jet production operations.
The company’s J-10 single-engine, multi-role fighter jets came under global scrutiny in May last year, when Pakistan claimed it had shot down multiple Indian aircraft, including French-made Rafale jets.
India acknowledged losing aircraft during the conflict, without specifying a number, and said it had also destroyed several Pakistani planes. The Indian military has not provided details of which aircraft were hit and Islamabad has denied Delhi’s claims.
AVIC Chengdu has since gained greater international visibility, particularly after Pakistan commended the performance of its J-10 and jointly produced JF-17 fighter jets.
The conflict marked one of the first instances where advanced Chinese-made weapon systems were deployed in active combat, boosting interest in such platforms across emerging markets.
Indonesia has previously signalled interest in acquiring J-10 jets, while Iraq, Bangladesh and Indonesia have shown interest in the JF-17 Thunder.
The company said expanding overseas arms sales remains a strategic priority. In February, it signed an agreement with the Chengdu municipal government in Sichuan province to scale up aerospace manufacturing.
AVIC Chengdu also produces the fifth-generation J-20 stealth fighter. Meanwhile, AVIC Shenyang Aircraft Co., which manufactures the J-35 fifth-generation fighter jet, reported 2025 revenue of 44.7 billion yuan. Its profit reached 3.5 billion yuan, marking a 3.7 percent increase from the previous year.
According to the company, higher earnings were driven by stronger sales and ongoing factory expansion.
Authorities in Liaoning province confirmed that a new production facility is expected to begin mass output later this year.
Both AVIC Chengdu and AVIC Shenyang remain under US sanctions.
