Actors Abdun Noor Shajal and Adhora Khan are set to share the big screen for the first time in ‘Ritukamini’, which is scheduled for release in December during Bangladesh’s Victory Month.
According to the Daily Star, the film is directed by Zahid Hossain, and began production two years ago and has received clearance from the Bangladesh Film Certification Board. The director has confirmed its December release, with the exact date and further details expected to be announced this month.
Set in a rural community, ‘Ritukamini’ explores social decay, immorality and the struggles faced by families. Shajal plays Jamal, a wayward young man whose character, he said, differs from his previous roles. Adhora appears as Kumkum, a village girl whose modest appearance marks a departure from the actress’s usual glamorous screen image.
The film also features Fazlur Rahman Babu, Deepa Khandakar and Rina Khan.
Shajal said the story portrays realities that people encounter in everyday life but often hesitate to discuss. He expressed hope that audiences would connect with the film’s narrative.
Adhora praised Zahid Hossain’s filmmaking and described the role as a new experience. She also said working with Shajal for the first time was particularly special, revealing that the actor had once been her crush.
She further appreciated Deepa Khandakar’s portrayal of her on-screen mother and said she had tried her best to bring Kumkum to life, hoping audiences would appreciate her performance.
