Rajbari District Sadar Hospital has received administrative approval to upgrade from 100 beds to 250 beds and to start services under the expanded capacity, health authorities said.
The approval was issued on 28 April through a memorandum signed by Kazi Sharif Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Secretary of the Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The memorandum, numbered 45.00.0000.160.97.003.22-392, confirmed the decision.
According to the order, the approval has been granted following consent from the Finance Division, subject to compliance with all relevant rules, procedures and formalities. It allows the hospital to upgrade its capacity from 100 to 250 beds and begin service operations accordingly.
Superintendent of Rajbari Sadar Hospital Sheikh Md Abdul Hannan said the ministry has approved the expansion.
He said arrangements will be made from 1 May to provide meals for 250 admitted patients. Other facilities for the full 250-bed capacity will be introduced gradually.
Earlier, on 15 April, the Finance Division under the Ministry of Finance approved a proposal to increase bed capacity and introduce expanded services in six healthcare centres, including Rajbari District Sadar Hospital, operated under the Health Services Division.
