A Dhaka court on Sunday framed charges against 21 accused in a case filed over the killing of scrap metal trader Lal Chand Mohammad Sohag in the capital’s Mitford area on 9 July, 2025.
Judge Mosaddek Minhaj of the Dhaka First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court passed the order and fixed July 19 for the start of witness testimony, court bench official said, reports BSS.
Lal Chand Mohammad Sohag, 39, was hacked, beaten and stoned to death near the gate of Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital in Old Dhaka on July 9, 2025. His sister, Monjuara Begum, filed the case the following day against 19 people.
Police submitted a charge sheet on December 29, 2025, accusing 21 people in connection with the murder. Of them, 10 have been arrested and are in jail, while three others were arrested but later granted bail. The remaining eight accused are still absconding.
