Director Raihan Rafi has been steadily building curiosity around his upcoming film Andhar by revealing the looks of its characters.
Following Nazifa Tushi and Faruk Ahmed Rehan, the filmmaker has now unveiled Chanchal Chowdhury’s look from the film.
As with the previous reveals, Rafi shared a frame taken from the monitor on the shooting set on social media.
The image shows Chanchal in a strikingly different avatar.
The actor will portray a character named Shamsher in the film.
Alongside revealing the look, Rafi praised Chanchal’s acting abilities and said Andhar gave him the opportunity to utilise the actor on a much larger scale.
Rafi has previously worked with Chanchal twice, but both collaborations involved relatively brief cameo appearances.
This time, he wanted to bring the actor’s full potential to the screen.
“I have had the privilege of working with Chanchal Chowdhury twice before. However, both roles were more or less cameos. Perhaps we could not fully bring out the magic of the actor on screen,” Rafi wrote.
He also reflected on the extraordinary range of Chanchal’s talent.
“To be honest, I have never watched a Bangladeshi film and felt that Chanchal bhai had been able to showcase his full potential. The problem is that the man’s talent has no limits. So I do not even know whether it is possible to show all of it,” the director wrote.
Rafi believes Andhar will help address some of that long-standing limitation.
According to the filmmaker, the team has tried to give audiences a glimpse of just how powerful an actor Chanchal is.
He added that everyone involved in the project believes no other actor could have portrayed Shamsher in the same way.
Andhar is based on a supernatural story by Saidus Salehin Suman of the band Artcell and Shakib Chowdhury of Cryptic Fate.
The film is being produced by production house 221B.
Alongside Chanchal Chowdhury and Nazifa Tushi, the cast includes Siam Ahmed, Rehan, Afsana Mimi, Swarnali Chaiti and others.
