Jamal Hossain heads into Friday’s final of the inaugural Chief of Army Staff (CAS) Cup Professional Golf Tournament 2026 at Jolshiri Golf Club in Rupganj as the man to beat, after rounds of six-under-par 67 and six-under-par 66 put him on 11 under for the qualifying stages. Badal Hossain and Mohammad Siddikur Rahman both made the cut but face very different tasks going into the decider.
The tournament began with a field of 107 golfers, including 82 professionals. Following two days of qualifying rounds, the field was reduced to 50 players through the cut, with 40 golfers set to receive prize money from the total purse.
Badal, who led after round one with a six-under-par 66, carded an even-par 70 in round two to sit on eight under. He trails Jamal by three strokes going into Friday but remains the closest challenger in a field that now knows exactly what is at stake: a winner’s prize of Tk 350,000 from a total pot of Tk 30 lacs (Tk 3,000,000), which will be distributed among 40 players.
Md Razu climbed into third with rounds of one-over-par 71 and four-under-par 68, putting him on five under. Four players share fourth on four under: Md Sagor (even-par 70, even-par 70), Jakir Uzzaman (three-under 69, one-over 71), Md Shahjamal (three-under 69, one-over 71), and Dil Mohammad (four-under 68, two-over 72).
Mohammad Siddikur Rahman made the cut but has not found the form his reputation carries. Two qualifying rounds have left him well short of the lead, and Friday’s final will demand something considerably better if he is to feature in the prize positions.
Jamal’s round two was a study in recovery. He found his rhythm on the front nine before losing his way briefly in the middle stretch, then closed strongly to move to the top.
“The first nine holes today went really well, but after that I lost my way a little. Then I came back at the end and moved to the top position,” he told Daily Times of Bangladesh.
On Friday’s final, he was composed. “Since I have played so many tournaments, I hope I will not feel any pressure. I hope I can give my best.”
Jamal also thanked Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman and BPGA President Major General Mashud Razzaq (retd.) for organising the event. “The way I, Siddik bhai, and Badal do well abroad, if we can hold tournaments like this regularly, we will find many more good golfers,” he said.
Jamal Hossain won the Army Golf Club Professional Golf Tournament in May 2025 and enters Friday’s final as the clear favourite. The real test begins at Jolshiri in the morning.
