BNP has secured an absolute majority in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, marking its return to power after two decades.
BNP Standing Committee Member and Cox’s Bazar-1 Member of Parliament Salahuddin Ahmed said on Friday that the public would need to wait “a little longer” to know the composition of the new cabinet.
Before commenting on the formation of the cabinet, he expressed gratitude to Allah and thanked the people of Bangladesh.
He described the election as a milestone in the nation’s history and said the international community had closely observed the “fair and neutral” process.
Despite “one or two isolated incidents”, the election was held in an almost entirely peaceful environment, he said.
He also commended voters for “protecting democracy”, saying many did not only cast their ballots but stayed on to guard polling centres.
