Civil Aviation Academy of the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) organised a certificate-giving ceremony for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)-designed Training Instructors Course (TIC) at the CAAB headquarters auditorium on Monday.
The initiative aimed to enhance aviation training management to international standards and develop skilled and qualified aviation instructors who will play an important role in the sustainable development of the country’s aviation sector, reads a press release.
At the event, Civil Aviation Academy Director Prashanta Kumar Chakraborty presented a presentation titled “Overview of Aviation Training,” highlighting ICAO’s Global Aviation Training (GAT), TRAINAIR PLUS Programme, Quality Assurance in Training, and future training plans.
A total of 24 officials engaged in CAAB’s training activities successfully completed the ICAO-designed Training Instructors Course (TIC) and formally received certificates.
The achievement is considered a significant milestone in their journey toward becoming internationally standardised instructors.
CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq attended the programme as the chief guest, while CAAB Member (Operations and Planning) Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan was present as the special guest.
In his speech, the chief guest thanked the Civil Aviation Academy for its dedicated role in the aviation sector. He said the implementation of major CAAB projects, including the operation and expansion of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and the development of Cox’s Bazar Airport, requires skilled and internationally standard aviation professionals.
He said the Civil Aviation Academy is playing a leading role in developing skilled human resources and continuing to function as a centre of excellence.
He also added the academy is currently developing two international-standard training courses, “Rules of the Air” and “Aerodrome Operations for ATCOs” which will further enhance the skills of aviation professionals and create new opportunities for globally recognised training activities in the future.
The special guest said training plans have been adopted based on Training Need Assessment (TNA) and operational requirements in important areas such as Air Traffic Management, Aviation Security, Aerodrome Operations, and Rescue and Fire Fighting.
He added that Next Generation Training, integrating simulation, field practice, and performance assessment, will significantly improve safety and efficiency.
Prashanta said the 24 officials are now capable of conducting Competency-Based Training as international-standard instructors.
He said the academy aims to establish itself as a regional Centre of Excellence through Competency-Based Training Assessment (CBTA), Learning Management System, simulation, and digital content based on Job Task Analysis and Training Need Assessment (TNA).
CAAB members, directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, officials from different levels, and journalists were also present at the event.
