Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has congratulated BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, hailing the party’s victory in the 13th parliamentary election.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Yunus said, “I extend my congratulations and best wishes to you as BNP has secured a massive majority under your leadership in the election.
This clear mandate of people in the historic process of democratic transition will remain a very important milestone for the country’s constitutional and democratic continuity and institutional stability, he added.
He also said, “I firmly believe that in discharging the heavy responsibility of statecraft, you will lead the country towards a stable, inclusive, and development-oriented path in light of your wisdom, democratic values, and public welfare-oriented spirit.”
“I recall the ideals and state philosophy of your father, former president Ziaur Rahman, and the uncompromising leadership and commitment to democracy of your mother, former prime minister Khaleda Zia. I sincerely hope that their ideals and great works will illuminate your path in the days ahead.”
The chief adviser said, Bangladesh stands at the threshold of new possibilities on the global stage. He emphasised that the application of coordinated merit, creativity, and wisdom is essential in areas such as economic transformation, technological advancement, climate resilience, human resource development, and active participation in regional and international diplomacy.
He added, “I hope that under your leadership, national unity will be consolidated and democratic values, the rule of law, and accountable governance will be further strengthened,” he added.
Yunus also expressed his sincere gratitude for the valuable cooperation and constructive role played by Tarique Rahman during the tenure of the interim government.
He remarked that Tarique’s positive stance in maintaining a democratic environment, demonstrating tolerance, and remaining respectful of the constitutional process during this sensitive period of transition played a crucial role in the national interest.
He concluded his post saying, “Finally, I wish success for all your initiatives aimed at the welfare of the people, the establishment of justice, and the building of a prosperous Bangladesh. May Allah grant you wisdom, patience, and firmness in the service of the country and the nation.”
