A bus was set on fire near Labaid Hospital in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area on Monday evening, police and fire service officials said.
Two units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence from Mohammadpur Station rushed to the spot around 7:30pm and brought the blaze under control.
Khaleda Yasmin, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, confirmed that the bus belonged to Shanto-Mariam University. “We received information that unidentified individuals had set the bus on fire,” the official said, adding that the cause of the incident is yet to be determined.
Police and army personnel were deployed at the scene to maintain security and assist firefighters. No casualties were reported in the incident.
