Professor ASM Abdul Hasib of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has been appointed the inaugural Vice-Chancellor of the newly established Dhaka Central University (DCU), which will oversee seven colleges in the capital.
The appointment was announced in a gazette notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.
He has been appointed to the post under Section 11(1) of the “Dhaka Central University Ordinance, 2026”.
According to the conditions mentioned in the notification, his tenure as Vice-Chancellor will be four years from the date of joining.
The notification, signed by Assistant Secretary Md Shah Alam Siraj, said that as the chief executive officer of the university, he will remain present on the campus at all times.
The President and Chancellor may cancel the appointment at any time if deemed necessary, it added.
Professor ASM Abdul Hasib had been serving as the Dean of the Postgraduate Studies Faculty at BUET.
