The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intensified its vigilance along Roumari frontier in Kurigram following allegations that Indian Border Security Force (BSF) attempted to push nine individuals into Bangladesh territory.
According to local sources, the incident occurred around 6am on Sunday. An attempt was made to push six people – comprising two children, one woman, and three youths – into the country through Goytapara Banshirchar Bottala border, situated near main pillar 1060. Simultaneously, another attempt was made to push three additional men through Vandurchar border point.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, BGB personnel took up alert positions along the frontier. Local villagers also joined the effort, strengthening their own surveillance to monitor border movements.
To prevent further push-in attempts, patrolling and observation have been significantly increased across various strategic points.
Residents of the area noted that there have been multiple attempts at push-ins at different points of Roumari border recently.
However, these efforts are being successfully thwarted due to the constant alertness of both the BGB and the local community. Currently, high-level monitoring remains in place at the Goytapara and Vandurchar border areas.
Commenting on the situation, Lieutenant Colonel Hasanur Rahman, commanding officer of Jamalpur 35 BGB Battalion, stated that BGB maintains a very strict stance regarding the protection of the country’s sovereignty and border security.
“Security measures and surveillance across the border have been further strengthened following this incident of attempted entry,” he said.
The official added that BGB remains constantly active and prepared to prevent any form of illegal entry or suspicious activities.
