BRAC Bank has launched a Platinum Multicurrency debit card on the Mastercard network, offering customers a secure and flexible option for both domestic and international transactions.
Unveiled on 23 November, the card is designed to simplify payments across currencies through Mastercard’s global acceptance network. The bank said it remains the only institution in Bangladesh to offer a rewards programme on debit card spending at home and abroad. A Mastercard Platinum Multicurrency TARA Debit Card for women was also introduced, offering double reward points on Tuesdays.
The card features NFC-enabled contactless technology, an EMV chip and two-factor authentication. It also provides access to deals at more than 9,500 Mastercard partner merchants and privileges under the Priceless Specials platform. Cardholders can subscribe to global streaming services and promote content on social media platforms.
Integrated with BRAC Bank’s Astha app, it enables QR-based payments, QR cash withdrawal at ATMs and full card management through a single interface. Customers will also have access to worldwide discounts through partner merchants.
Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, managing director and CEO of BRAC Bank, said the card reflects the bank’s focus on innovation and customer convenience and combines daily utility with global access and secure technology. Syed Mohammad Kamal, country manager for Mastercard in Bangladesh, said Mastercard aims to support the country’s shift toward a cashless economy through strategic partnerships and modern payment solutions.
Senior officials from BRAC Bank and Mastercard, including South Asia President Gautam Aggarwal, attended the launch ceremony.
