Police recovered two bomb-like objects from beside a temporary BNP election office in Amtail village under Gangni upazila of Meherpur.
Locals found two suspicious items wrapped in red tape lying near the office and informed police. Officers later reached the scene and recovered the objects.
According to locals, BNP activists had set up a temporary election office at a tea stall in the west neighborhood of Amtail village under Solotaka union.
Party workers often gathered there to conduct campaign and organizational activities. Police suspect that miscreants placed the bomb-like objects near the office at night.
Gangni Police Station’s officer-in-charge Uttam Kumar Das said police quickly reached the spot after receiving the information.
He said, “The bomb-like objects are being examined. The matter is under investigation, and details will be shared after the probe.”
