Police have recovered a bomb-like object from the home of a farmer in Gangni upazila of Meherpur on Saturday morning and launched an investigation into the incident.
The suspicious object, wrapped in red adhesive tape, was found beside a paddy granary at the home of Mizanur Rahman in Mohishakhola village under Dhankhola Union.
Mizanur Rahman said he discovered the bomb-shaped object after waking up in the morning. Suspecting it could be dangerous, he immediately informed Gangni Police Station.
A police team later arrived at the scene and recovered the object.
Mizanur said he had no idea who had left the object at his home or what the motive might have been.
Al Mamun, investigation officer and Officer-in-Charge of Gangni Police Station, said officers recovered the bomb-like object after receiving the report.
He said it was possible that someone had left the object there to intimidate or threaten the homeowner.
Police are investigating the incident to identify those responsible and bring them to justice, he added.
