The body of a poultry trader was recovered from a pond in the Nager Bazar area of Belabo upazila on Thursday night, three days after he went missing.
The deceased was identified as Azimul Qader Bhuiya, 45, a resident of Raghab village under Bajnabaup union.
Belabo Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Nasir Uddin said Bhuiya, who was also a local Chhatra League leader of Bajnabaup Union and Belabo upazila, went missing on Tuesday around 8:00 pm after leaving his poultry farm.
Two workers recently hired at the farm are also missing, along with all the chickens kept there, he said.
The inspector said police launched an investigation after a general diary was filed and later recovered the body following information received late at night.
The body was sent to the morgue of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
