The bodies of five Bangladeshis killed in a road accident in Qatar’s Shahaniya area have been brought back to the country.
The deceased are Abdul Kadir of Gachbari village, Mustak Ahmed Afnan and Jubair Ahmed of Majtaluk village, Jasim Uddin of Agataluk village, and Jibal Ahmed of Amarpur village — all from Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet.
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight (BG‑226) carrying the bodies departed Hamad International Airport in Doha on Monday night and landed at Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport Tuesday morning.
On 21 June, five Bangladeshi expatriates were killed in a road accident in Shahaniya. The Bangladesh Embassy in Qatar confirmed the matter in a notice signed by Labour Welfare Wing Counsellor Mohammad Mashhudul Kabir on Monday.
The embassy said the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board financed the repatriation and necessary arrangements. The relevant ministry branch had already been tasked with handing over the bodies to families and providing other support, it added.
