Selima Rahman, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, has been taken to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of United Hospital in Dhaka.
Selima, also a former state minister, was admitted to the hospital around 10pm on 19 February after suffering from cardiac complications.
BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter on Sunday.
Her family and party have requested prayers from well-wishers and the people of the country.
Selima is one of the senior members of the BNP Standing Committee. She served as the state minister for cultural affairs from 2001 to 2006. In addition, she has also held positions as BNP’s joint secretary general and vice-chairman.
