Sylhet’s Dakshin Surma Upazila BNP general secretary Kohinur Ahmed has been expelled from the party for “violating organisational discipline,” according to a party press release issued Wednesday.
The BNP statement also accused Kohinur of engaging in “activities contrary to party ideology,” though it provided no specific details about the alleged disciplinary breaches or ideological violations. The brief notification simply declared his removal from all party positions, including his primary membership.
The expulsion follows local newspaper Daily Surma’r Dak reporting a day earlier that Kohinur was allegedly involved in a family dispute where he and his associates attacked several people, leaving them seriously injured.
The newspaper’s Facebook page included related video footage, though Times of Bangladesh could not independently verify the clip.
