BKSP has taken a decisive step into a greener future after signing a solar power installation agreement with Tripax Company in Savar. The deal marks a major shift in how Bangladesh’s leading sports institute plans to power its facilities.
Director General Brigadier General Md. Munirul Islam and Tripax proprietor Iftekhar Hossain sealed the partnership in a formal ceremony. They set the tone for a project that aims to bring clean energy into the heart of Bangladesh’s sporting infrastructure.
Tripax will install 600 kW of rooftop solar systems across five regional training centres. Dinajpur, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet and Cox’s Bazar will all receive systems built under the Net Metering Policy-2025. The model allows BKSP to generate power, feed excess energy back to the grid and slash long-term electricity costs.
Munirul Islam praised the initiative as a timely and necessary move. He stressed that solar energy cuts greenhouse gas emissions and reduces the strain on the traditional electricity network. He framed the project as a step towards a healthier and more sustainable environment.
He also underlined the reduction in dependence on fossil fuels. He believes the shift reflects a broader national ambition to embrace renewable energy and cut pollution wherever possible. He sees the installation as part of a long-term commitment rather than a one-off gesture.
BKSP views the partnership as a strategic upgrade rather than a cosmetic change. The institute wants its athletes to train in facilities that match modern standards and reflect global environmental priorities. The solar rollout, in their view, strengthens both performance and sustainability.
