The 40th meeting of the Board of Governors of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) approved a series of measures to strengthen staffing, upgrade training standards, expand sports programmes and enhance international collaboration during a meeting held at the institution’s headquarters in Jirani, Savar on 28 June.
The meeting was chaired by Aminul Haque, State Minister in charge of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Chairman of the BKSP Board of Governors. Board members first approved the minutes of the 39th meeting before taking decisions on a range of agenda items, BKSP said in a press release.
The board approved measures covering the strengthening of BKSP’s manpower structure, improvement of training programmes, revision of the 2021 trainee policy, signing memoranda of understanding with universities in China, establishment of a pilot regional training arrangement for female athletes in Rajshahi, inclusion of chess as a new sports discipline, expansion of divisional and regional training centres, policies for officers and employees, infrastructure development, and administrative and financial matters.
The meeting also stressed the importance of engaging foreign specialist coaches in existing sports disciplines, upgrading infrastructure and undertaking effective human resource development initiatives to raise BKSP’s training programmes to international standards.
Board members also discussed expanding sports diplomacy beyond China by pursuing joint training programmes, coaching initiatives and competitions with universities and sports federations in Japan, South Korea, Türkiye and Malaysia.
Aminul Haque thanked participants for what he described as a productive discussion and called on all concerned to work together to implement the board’s decisions.
The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Governors, the Director General of BKSP, directors and other senior officials. BKSP said implementation of the decisions taken at the meeting is expected to further strengthen the institution’s education, training and sports development activities.
