Nusraat Faria and Azmeri Haque Badhan are set to share the screen for the first time in the new film Lojja. Faria has signed the project, which brings the two acclaimed actresses together under the direction of M H Khokon.
Impress Telefilm and Jaaz Multimedia are jointly producing the film. The announcement came on 8 September, Faria’s 31st birthday. Just before midnight on Monday, she shared a post on social media, writing: “Will be Officially 31 at 12am: still cute, still chaotic, just better accessorized.”
The signing ceremony for Lojja took place at the Channel i office last Saturday. Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of Impress Telefilm Limited and Channel i, and Abdul Aziz, owner of Jaaz Multimedia, attended the event along with others involved in the project.
Abdul Aziz has written the story of Lojja. According to the producers, shooting will begin on 20 September. The film is planned for a theatrical release next year before moving to the OTT platform iScreen.
The makers have yet to reveal the story or details of the characters played by Faria and Badhan. Abdul Aziz, however, described Lojja as a socially conscious film. “We have not decided on the release date yet,” he said.
Badhan has earned praise for her performances in films including Rehana Maryam Noor and Khufiya. She has also gained international recognition for Rehana Maryam Noor, which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the 74th Cannes Film Festival.
Meanwhile, Faria is also wrapping up work on her web film Lapatta. Directed by Mehedi Hassan Hridoy, the project has one song sequence left to shoot. Once that sequence is completed, filming will wrap.
Lapatta is scheduled to premiere on iScreen in October. Faria plays the central female character in the web film.
