Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 34kg of Indian cannabis during a special anti-narcotics operation in the Chhagalnaiya border area of Feni.
Feni Battalion-4 disclosed the information in a press release on Wednesday.
According to the release, the seizure was made during a special operation conducted as part of regular efforts to prevent drug trafficking and smuggling along the border.
The seized cannabis is being handed over to the local police station for further legal action, it said.
Feni Battalion-4 Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel M M Zillur Rahman said BGB remains vigilant and active to prevent smuggling, curb the spread of narcotics, stop illegal entry, ensure border security and suppress all forms of border-related crimes.
He said regular and special operations will continue in border areas to prevent smuggling.
The commanding officer added that effective measures are being taken to implement BGB’s “zero tolerance” policy against narcotics.
