bKash has won the Fintech Innovation of the Year award in the Mobile Financial Services and Digital Financial Services (MFS/DFS) category at the fourth Bangladesh Fintech Award, alongside two honourable mentions for its payment and digital lending solutions.
The country’s largest mobile financial service provider secured the recognition for its efforts to expand financial inclusion through technology-driven services, marking its fourth consecutive year of receiving honours at the awards, the company said in a press release on Saturday.
The Bangladesh Fintech Forum recently organised the awards to recognise organisations demonstrating innovation, impact and leadership in financial technology.
bKash Chief Product and Technology Officer Azmal Huda received the awards on behalf of the company, accompanied by senior officials.
The company’s financial inclusion initiative, “The bKash Impact”, won the top award in the MFS/DFS category for extending formal financial services to low-income and unbanked populations.
The initiative covers savings, loans, payments and remittances, bringing a range of financial services within reach of underserved communities.
The company also received an honourable mention in the Payment category for “bKash NFC”, which enables contactless transactions using near-field communication technology.
Its “bKash Merchant Loan” initiative earned another honourable mention in the Digital Lending category for expanding access to collateral-free credit for small and micro-entrepreneurs.
The fourth edition of the Bangladesh Fintech Award recognised 13 winners and presented eight honourable mentions across different categories.
