Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a large consignment of Indian drugs and intoxicating substances worth an estimated over Tk24.10 lakh from three separate locations in Daulatpur border area of Kushtia.
Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony, commander of Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) confirmed the information on Friday afternoon through a press release.
The release said the first drive took place at around 12:30am on Friday in the Shakuntala field area under Jamalpur BOP of Kushtia battalion.
BGB recovered 1.6 kg of cannabis along with 34 bottles of Tripolidine Hydrochloride and Codeine Phosphate syrup, all in abandoned condition.
In another drive at 6:40am, BGB recovered 20 bottles of liquor, 1,500 Dexmethasone tablets and 1,490 Cyproheptadine tablets from Shantipara area under Chilmarie BOP.
Earlier on Thursday at 1:20pm, a separate operation at Atarpur ferry ghat area under Udaynagar BOP led to the recovery of 4,880 Yaba tablets, also in abandoned condition.
BGB said it remains committed to ensuring border security and preventing smuggling of drugs, explosives and other illegal items. It added that strict operations will continue in the border areas to curb such crimes.
