Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 1,400 rounds of ammunition during a special operation in Panchari of Khagrachhari.

Commander of Panchari Battalion (3 BGB) Lt Col Md Robiul Islam confirmed the matter in a press release on Saturday.

Lt Col Robiul said acting on a tip-off, a patrol team from Panchari Battalion (3 BGB) took position in the Kathaltoli passenger shed area on Friday. The team saw four individuals arriving on two motorcycles via the border road around 4pm.

Sensing the presence of BGB, the suspects abandoned their motorcycles and fled into the nearby hilly terrain. A search of the site led to the recovery of 1,400 rounds of abandoned ammunition.

While returning to the BOP with the seized items, around 100-110 terrorists attempted to surround the BGB patrol. Upon receiving the news, two additional patrol teams were dispatched from the Panchari Battalion Headquarters. The terrorist groups gradually retreated after hearing of the arrival of additional BGB members.

The situation was brought under control, and the members of the terrorist group were identified.
