A new Border Outpost (BOP) named ‘Mouchosha’ has been inaugurated in Birol Upazila of Dinajpur to bolster the operational capacity of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in ensuring frontier security, preventing smuggling, and suppressing transnational crimes.
Brigadier General ASM Naser, Commander of the BGB North-West Region (Rangpur), officially opened the 21st BOP under the Dinajpur Battalion (42 BGB) by hoisting the national flag on Thursday morning.
Following the formal inauguration, he planted a mango sapling on the outpost premises.
In his address to the gathering, Brigadier General ASM Naser commended the tireless efforts of BGB personnel in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. He asserted that the BGB remains on high alert to ensure that no miscreants can conduct illegal activities or create instability across the border.
He specifically highlighted that special checkposts have been established and intelligence surveillance has been intensified to prevent the smuggling of fuel and edible oil.
The regional commander also called upon local residents and media professionals to cooperate by providing accurate information, expressing hope that collective efforts would bring border crimes down to zero.
The Mouchosha BOP is situated near the zero line between the existing Kishoriganj and Ramchandrapur BOPs, an area previously considered vulnerable to drug trafficking, the trafficking of women and children, and illegal entry. The establishment of this new post is expected to make surveillance more seamless across the approximately 99-kilometre border area under this battalion’s jurisdiction, thereby strengthening the environment of security and trust among border-adjacent communities.
The ceremony was attended by Colonel Mohammad Foyzal Hasan Khan, Sector Commander of BGB Dinajpur, and Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Moyeen Hasan, Commanding Officer of the Dinajpur Battalion (42 BGB), alongside other senior BGB officials.
