The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to “push in” 11 individuals into Bangladesh through Darshana border in Chuadanga.
The incident took place near Main Pillar 76-77 of Darshana-Gede border around 4:30am on Sunday. The group attempting to enter Bangladesh comprised eight men and three women.
According to sources, BGB patrol teams noticed the activity and moved swiftly to the scene. The border guards intercepted the group and moved them back to the barbed-wire fence.
There is currently no confirmed information regarding where the individuals have since positioned themselves.
Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan, director of BGB Chuadanga-6 Battalion, confirmed the incident. He stated that BGB is maintaining regular patrols, intelligence surveillance, and operational activities to prevent “push-ins” and any other subversive activities along the frontier.
The BGB is currently maintaining 24-hour vigilance over a 113-kilometre border area spanning Chuadanga and Meherpur districts under the jurisdiction of the Chuadanga-6 Battalion.
