Beximco Pharmaceuticals organised a tree plantation drive at its Tongi factory and local educational institutions on Monday to mark World Environment Day, the company said in a press release. The initiative involved students, teachers, school staff, and company employees, aiming to promote environmental awareness and expand green coverage within communities.
The programmes took place at UCEP-Tongi Pourashava Kalabagan School and Hazi Kasimuddin Public School and College, where participants planted a variety of trees. Students were also given fruit-bearing saplings to plant at home, encouraging lifelong environmental responsibility. The company said it plans sustained collaboration with the schools through future educational, environmental, and community-focused initiatives.
Beximco Pharmaceuticals Chief Operating Officer Rabbur Reza planted an avocado tree at the factory premises, saying in a press statement, “Environmental stewardship is a continuous journey. Through initiatives like these and our ongoing sustainability efforts, we remain committed to creating a greener future for our communities and future generations.”
The company said it has integrated sustainability into daily operations, including eliminating plastic water bottles at factory sites, improving water management, and reducing resource wastage. The drive underscores Beximco Pharmaceuticals’ focus on environmental conservation while fostering stronger community engagement and inspiring young people to participate in protecting the environment.
