Actress Iffat Ara Tithi has opened up about the ongoing controversy surrounding the untimely death of actor Zaher Alvi’s wife Afra Ibnath Khan Iqra.
On Wednesday afternoon, she published 44 screenshots of a personal conversation with Iqra in a long post on her Facebook account. Tithi published them on her Facebook on Wednesday (March 4).
Since Iqra’s death, there has been a lot of discussion in the entertainment industry about the issue. Iqra’s family alleges that Iqra had a mental breakdown due to Alvi’s close relationship with her colleague Tithi. Iqra’s father Kabir Hayat Khan has filed a case in the capital’s Pallabi Police Station in this incident.
Recently, Alvi and Tithi went to Nepal for the shooting of a drama. February 27 was Tithi’s birthday. At that time, there were rumors in the entertainment industry that the shooting was organized in Nepal to celebrate Tithi’s birthday. However, Alvi denied this allegation. A day later, on February 28, Iqra died. Since then, the discussion about Alvi and Tithi’s relationship has intensified.
Tithi, publishing screenshots in a Facebook post, wrote that she did not want to publish them at first. According to her, if the administration needed it, she would have provided evidence there so that everyone’s respect would be intact. However, she also mentioned that it was not possible to remain silent given the way she was being harassed recently.
In the long post, Tithi claimed that the allegations made about her relationship with Alvi were misinterpretations and propaganda. She also mentioned that her relationship with Iqra was friendly. Tithi claimed that she had regular contact with Iqra and that Iqra would share various personal issues with her: family turmoil, disappointment and mental stress.
Referring to the screenshot, Tithi said that she never had any intention of breaking up Iqra’s family. Rather, she encouraged Iqra to stay involved in work and stand on her own feet.
In the post, Tithi also claimed that she never advised Iqra to divorce. In her words, “I never told you [Iqra] to divorce him, I will marry Alvi. Rather, I said, ‘You are his queen’.”
Tithi also directly denied the accusation of inciting Iqra to commit suicide. She claims that Iqra told her several times that she wanted to move to the US. In response, Tithi tried to convince her that she loved her husband and that she should try to maintain the relationship.
Tithi’s post also touched on Iqra’s family. She claims that Iqra herself had written about some mental hardships surrounding her family. According to Tithi, Iqra felt that she did not receive enough support from her family. Even after Zaher-Iqra separated once in 2018, Iqra asked her father to help her move abroad, but she did not get it.
At the end of the post, Tithi said that if any untoward incident happens to her, the relevant organizations should investigate the matter. At the same time, he prayed for the forgiveness of Iqra’s soul and prayed for Zaher-Iqra’s child, Rijik.
