The High Court chamber court has extended the stay on a letter from BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul. The letter had suspended the activities of councillor candidates from district and divisional ad hoc committees in the Bangladesh Cricket Board election.
Lawyers say this means there is no obstacle to holding the BCB election on October 6. The order was given on Sunday, September 28, by Appellate Division chamber judge Farah Mahbub.
Additional Attorney General Arshadur Rauf and Barrister Anik A. Haque represented the state in court. Barrister Mahin M. Rahman appeared for the BCB. Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajol represented the petitioners.
Among the candidates, current BCB director Iftekhar Rahman Mithu filed his nomination in Category-2. Former national team wicketkeeper-batsman Khaled Masud Pilot filed in Category-3. Former captain Tamim Iqbal also bought a form under the club category. He previously served as a councillor from the Old DOHS Club in Dhaka.
