A student of Sher-e-Bangla Girls’ Secondary School was killed after being struck by a three-wheeler in Barishal, prompting classmates to block a city road in protest.
The demonstration began around 11am on Thursday in front of the school on BM College Road.
Students demanded immediate action against the driver and called for the installation of a speed breaker outside the school to prevent future accidents.
According to the protesting students, the victim, a student of class VIII, was hit while crossing the road after school on Wednesday. They alleged that delayed medical attention at Barishal Medical College Hospital caused to her death.
City Corporation Administrator Advocate Bilkis Akter Jahan Shirin visited the site of the accident. She assured students that their demands would be implemented promptly. Following her assurance, the students lifted the road blockade.
