BanglaFact, the fact-checking and media research team of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), has identified five people allegedly involved in an attack on actress Azmeri Haque Badhan in Italy on Monday.
According to BanglaFact, the five individuals were identified by analysing videos of the incident, reports BSS.
The investigation team said the individuals are active in the banned Awami League and Chhatra League politics in Italy.
Badhan, who is currently in Italy to attend an international film festival, was allegedly harassed and physically assaulted while visiting a local park with her brother and his family.
The incident went viral on social media, triggering widespread reactions in Bangladesh and abroad and prompting calls for action against those responsible.
BanglaFact said Badhan had spoken out against violence during the July 2024 Mass Uprising and expressed support for the demands raised by the students.
It also said the spread of false and misleading information about Bangladesh through social media has increased since the 2024 mass uprising, targeting different political parties and groups.
