The body of Nahida Sultana Bristy, a Bangladeshi PhD student murdered in Florida, has arrived in Dhaka.
An aircraft carrying her body landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 8:30am on Saturday.
Her family members have already arrived at the airport to receive the body.
Airport authorities said the body will be handed over to the family after completing legal formalities.
Earlier, on Wednesday afternoon local time, Bristy’s first namaz-e-janaza was held at a mosque in Tampa. Friends, faculty and students at the University of South Florida (USF), along with members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community, attended the prayer.
On the following day, her body was sent to Bangladesh from Orlando International Airport aboard an Emirates Airlines flight.
Bristy, a PhD candidate in chemical engineering, and fellow Bangladeshi doctoral student Zamil Ahamed Limon, who studied geography, environmental science and policy, were both enrolled at the USF in Tampa Bay.
Limon’s roommate, Hisham Abughurbeh, 26, a former USF student, has been arrested in connection with their killings.
