Bangladesh women’s team lost 38–36 to Nepal in a close beach kabaddi match at the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China. The result means Bangladesh finished second in the group and will face India in the semifinal later on Sunday.

Bangladesh and Nepal had already secured their semifinal spots before this match. Sunday morning’s game was to decide the group winner and avoid India in the last four.

The match was originally set for Friday but was postponed due to rain. It was later rescheduled and played on Sunday.

The contest began with high intensity. Nepal held a narrow 19–17 lead at halftime.

After the break, Bangladesh pushed hard to turn things around. But Nepal’s defence and raiders stayed strong and kept the lead. At full time, Nepal edged Bangladesh by just 2 points to seal a 38–36 win.

With a second-place finish, Bangladesh now meet group champions India in the semifinal. Even if they lose that match, Bangladesh will still secure a bronze medal, as both losing semifinalists receive bronze.
