Captain Towhid Hridoy scored a lone half century as Bangladesh posted just 109 for 8 against Australia in the third T20I in Chattogram on Sunday.
Bangladesh chose to bat first but their innings never gained momentum. The top order struggled against disciplined bowling and the team lost wickets at regular intervals.
Tanzid Hasan started with a boundary but was run out for five. Spencer Johnson then removed Saif Hassan for one. Parvez Hossain Emon also managed only one before Nathan Ellis struck.
Bangladesh slipped to 11 for 3 after five overs. The pressure increased when Nurul Hasan fell for six and Shamim Hossain departed without scoring. At 36 for 5, the hosts were in serious trouble.
Hridoy tried to rebuild the innings. He found some support from Rishad Hossain, who scored 16 from 14 balls. Their partnership helped Bangladesh move past fifty.
However, wickets continued to fall. Rishad became Nikhil Chaudhary’s only victim. Ellis then dismissed Nasum Ahmed for a duck. Adam Zampa removed Shoriful Islam for seven.
Hridoy carried the innings until the final over. He remained unbeaten on 61 from 51 balls. His knock included three fours and three sixes. Taskin Ahmed stayed not out on two at the other end.
Australia’s bowlers shared the wickets. Johnson was outstanding with 2 for 6 from four overs. Ellis also took two wickets. Zampa claimed two, while Chaudhary picked up one.
Bangladesh finished well below what they hoped for on a good batting surface. Australia now need 110 runs to win the match and complete a 3-0 sweep of the series.
