Bangladesh were handed a revised target as the second ODI against Pakistan resumed at 9:35 PM following a rain delay of over two hours at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. The game, initially halted at 6:15 PM due to a thunderstorm and persistent showers, will now be played under reduced overs, with Bangladesh chasing 243 runs in 32 overs.
Under the updated rules, two bowlers can deliver a maximum of seven overs each, while three bowlers are restricted to six overs apiece. Powerplay periods have been adjusted: overs 1 to 7 for Powerplay 1, overs 8 to 26 for Powerplay 2, and overs 27 to 32 for Powerplay 3. With these conditions, Bangladesh now need 216 runs in 25.3 overs.
The Bangladesh innings suffered an early collapse as the visitors slipped to 27 for 3 in 6.3 overs. Pakistan’s bowlers dominated, quickly dismantling the top order. Tanzid was the first to fall, caught at backward square leg for one run off Shahin Afridi’s third over. Saif followed immediately, giving a catch to short mid-off for 12 runs in Mohammad Wasim’s next over.
Nazmul Hossain was the third wicket, bowled by Afridi for a duck after misjudging a delivery aimed at the stumps. At stumps, Litton Das and TTowhid Hridoy remained unbeaten, tasked with stabilising the innings after the early losses.
Earlier, Pakistan had posted 274 all out in 47.3 overs, with their innings unraveling dramatically at the end. A controversial run-out of Salman Ali Agha triggered a collapse, with the tail losing seven wickets for just 43 runs.
