Bangladesh will begin their FIFA ASEAN Cup campaign against Malaysia on September 25 after the tournament organisers released the Group A fixtures.

The Bangladesh Football Federation accepted an invitation to enter the inaugural tournament after India withdrew. India pulled out because its September international schedule included a friendly against Brazil. Bangladesh then received the opportunity to replace them and accepted the invitation in August.

Bangladesh will face Malaysia at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Stadium at 3pm Bangladesh time on September 25. They will meet Singapore at the same venue on September 28 before facing hosts Indonesia on October 1 at 6:30pm.

All three matches will take place in Jakarta.

Bangladesh have been placed in Group A alongside Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. The tournament features eight teams in its Premier Division, with Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Pakistan forming Group B.

The ASEAN Cup falls during a FIFA international window, giving head coach Thomas Dooley an important competitive opportunity with his squad.
