Bangladesh recorded a rise in remittance inflows, receiving over $1.6 billion in the first 14 days of April, with the monthly total expected to cross $3 billion.
Data from Bangladesh Bank shows expatriates sent $1.6 billion between 1 and 14 April, up from $1.28 billion during the same period last year, marking a 25.2 percent increase.
In the current fiscal year (FY2025–26), total remittances from July to 14 April stood at $27.81 billion, compared with $23.06 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year (FY2024–25).
This reflects a year-on-year growth of 20.06 percent.
Analysts and central bank officials said the increase is driven by a stable US dollar exchange rate, higher earnings among expatriates in developed economies and a gradual recovery in the global economy.
