Bangladesh is closely observing the situation in Nepal and expressing its sincere condolences over the tragic loss of lives, extends sincere sympathies to the families of the deceased, and wishes a speedy recovery to all those injured.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in this regard on Tuesday.
“Bangladesh hopes that all sides will exercise maximum restraint and engage in peaceful and constructive dialogue to resolve any differences,” the ministry said in the statement.
Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Poudel stepped down on Tuesday, following the resignation of prime minister KP Sharma Oli amid widespread protests against corruption and nepotism, which have gripped the country in recent days.
The press release stated that as a longstanding friend and neighbour of Nepal, Bangladesh remains confident in the ability of the resilient people of Nepal to restore peace and ensure stability.
