Bangladesh and Malaysia have agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in religious affairs, following a virtual discussion between the two countries’ respective ministers for religious affairs.
The conversation took place today between Malaysia’s Minister for Religious Affairs Senator Zulkifli Hasan, and his Bangladeshi counterpart Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain (Kaikobad).
The talks centred on several key areas of mutual interest, including the management of Hajj operations, the administration of Zakat, and the modernisation of religious education systems.
Both sides underscored the importance of improving efficiency and integrating technology-based management to enhance transparency in Zakat distribution. Curriculum development aimed at fostering tolerance and social harmony was also a focal point of the discussion.
The ministers explored potential initiatives such as joint training programmes, collaborative workshops, and platforms for sharing experiences and expertise.
Concluding the meeting, both leaders expressed confidence that the implementation of these proposed measures would unlock new avenues for collaboration between the two nations in the religious sector.
