Bangladesh continued their strong start at the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, claiming a second consecutive win by overpowering Germany.
Starting with bonus points, the hosts took just five minutes to send Germany all out. They controlled the game from start to finish, securing a 57–27 victory at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday. Bangladesh had begun their group campaign with a 44–22 win over Uganda.
In the first half, Bangladesh applied relentless pressure, sending Germany all out twice within the first twelve minutes. At the break, they led 41–22, having established a 19-point advantage early on.
Germany offered more resistance in the second half, but Bangladesh, inspired by their early dominance, again sent the opposition all out twice to maintain control.
Bangladesh will face World Cup champions India in their third group match on Wednesday. Despite India’s strength and experience, Bangladesh captain Rupali Akter said the team is ready to challenge them with the confidence gained from back-to-back wins.
“Everyone comes to the World Cup wanting to perform at their best. Germany tried hard, but our goal was to win and build confidence for the India match – and we’ve done that,” Rupali said.
“Our next match is against India, and we will aim to play our best. They are the strongest team in the tournament, but these consecutive wins have boosted our morale and belief.”
Earlier in the day, after India defeated Thailand 65–20 in their group opener, captain Ritu Negi said her team does not feel under pressure ahead of the Bangladesh clash.
“We are delighted to start the tournament with a big win. The organisers have done a wonderful job with the facilities and the field, and we thank them for that,” she said.
“We have prepared thoroughly and worked hard. Bangladesh, as hosts, will have strong crowd support, but we came fully prepared and confident.”
