Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed vice-captains for all three formats of international cricket. Until now, each format had a separate captain, but no vice-captains had been named.
According to a media release, Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be the vice-captain for Tests, Najmul Hossain Shanto for ODIs, and Saif Hassan for T20Is.
Najmul Hossain had already been confirmed as Bangladesh’s Test captain until the next cycle of the World Test Championship. In this format, Miraz will serve as his deputy.
In ODIs, the roles are reversed. Miraz has been appointed captain for one year, until June 2026, with Shanto as his deputy. Miraz had taken over the ODI captaincy ahead of the Sri Lanka series in June, replacing Shanto.
For T20Is, Litton Das continues as captain until the 2026 T20 World Cup. Saif Hassan, who has demonstrated consistency with the bat since the Asia Cup, has now been named vice-captain for the T20 side.
