Special Olympics Bangladesh (SOBD) celebrated a notable double triumph at the Special Olympics South-East Asia Football Competition 2025, winning both the male and female Division 1 titles in Indonesia from 10–14 November.
The regional tournament featured teams from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, according to a press release issued by SOBD.
After two months of intensive preparation, Bangladesh’s Male Division 1 team secured a convincing 3–1 victory over Indonesia in the final. The Female Division 1 team followed with a thrilling 5–3 win against Thailand, ensuring a historic clean sweep of the top honours for Bangladesh.
Kamran Sunjoy Rahman, treasurer of SOBD and head of delegation for the men’s team, and Dr Ajanta Rani Saha, director of SOBD and head of delegation for the women’s team, thanked the coaches and organisers and hailed the athletes as true champions.
Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Tarikul Islam, congratulated both teams during the closing ceremony. SOBD chairman Moshiur Rahman and national director Faruqul Islam also extended their appreciation and expressed gratitude to Special Olympics Indonesia and the Asia Pacific Regional Office for hosting a successful event.
