Bangladesh’s second-tier football takes centre stage as the Bangladesh Championship League prepares to kick off on January 25, following squad submissions from all ten clubs this Wednesday.

Bangladesh Football Federation confirmed the schedule is getting ready during the sixth meeting of the Professional League Management Committee at the BFF House in Motijheel. Imrul Hasan chaired the meeting and signed off on a season that will run across four venues.

Clubs completed player registration on Wednesday. That deadline locked squads in and turned preparation into pressure.

The Championship League sits just below the Premier League but carries its own edge. Promotion dreams, survival battles and careers all collide at this level.

BFF first introduced professional football in 2007 and added the second tier in 2012. The structure now gives ambitious clubs a clear ladder to climb.

This season brings together a familiar mix of tradition and urgency. City Club, Wari Club and Dhaka Wanderers carry history, while newer projects chase momentum.

Chittagong Abahani and Chattogram City FC fly the flag outside the capital. Dhaka Rangers Football, Khelaghar, Shuktara Jubo Sangsad, Little Friends Club and BRTC Sports Club complete the line-up.

Four venues will host the matches, demanding smart squad rotation and tactical flexibility. Teams that defend well and manage game tempo usually survive this league.
