Bangladesh Betar has announced a new panel of 92 composers and music directors, formally recognising them as eligible to work with the state-owned broadcaster in those roles.
The list, published on 27 July, includes prominent singers and musicians such as Alam Ara Minu, Mehreen Mahmud, Putul Sajia Sultana, Sukanya Majumder, Suman Kalyan and Rajesh Ghosh, among others.
Veteran singer Alam Ara Minu, who has built a career as both a vocalist and a composer and music director, welcomed the recognition in a social media post. She also congratulated the other artistes included on the list.
Speaking to Ajker Patrika, singer-songwriter and composer Putul Sajia Sultana described the enlistment as a significant milestone. She said she has been writing songs and composing music for nearly 15 years of her two-decade career.
“This recognition is very valuable to me,” Putul said. “I have been working as a composer and music director for almost 15 years. Except for my debut album, I wrote, composed and directed the music for all my albums and the singles I released afterwards.”
She said many artistes had previously expressed interest in collaborating with her, but those projects never materialised.
“Now I can officially begin working as a composer and music director with other artistes through Bangladesh Betar. Altogether, I am excited about this new chapter in my musical journey,” she added.
