Popular Bangladeshi singers Baby Naznin and Kanak Chapa have entered the political race after collecting Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) nomination forms for reserved women’s seats in the upcoming 13th National Parliament.
Both artistes collected their nomination papers from the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on April 10.
Kanak Chapa has also submitted nomination papers for the Sirajganj-1 (Kazipur) constituency, while Baby Naznin is preparing to submit her form for Nilphamari-4 (Saidpur and Kishoreganj).
Speaking after collecting her form, Baby Naznin said her decision comes after decades of political alignment with the party and a desire to contribute to national development, particularly for younger generations. She said she has remained loyal to the BNP for around 40 years and intends to continue serving the country through public work.
Kanak Chapa said she is hopeful about securing the party’s nomination, citing her long-standing association and commitment. She added that she will accept whatever decision the party takes regarding her candidature.
