Veteran Bangladeshi actor Babita is set to be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Anandamela Awards 2026, to be held on July 25 and 26 in Los Angeles, US.
The annual awards, organised by US-based charity group Anandamela since 2017, will take place this year near the Hollywood Sign, with organisers describing the 2026 edition as the most ambitious yet.
Babita will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award on July 26 from the Consul General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles. The celebrated actor said the recognition holds special significance for her as it comes from a major expatriate Bangladeshi platform in the United States.
She noted that while she has received appreciation from Bangladeshi communities during overseas visits, this particular award carries unique meaning.
Organiser Khan Mohammad Ali said Babita’s participation has added prestige to the event and generated strong enthusiasm among the Bangladeshi diaspora in the US.
Babita remains one of the most respected figures in Bangladeshi cinema, with a career spanning decades.
In 2023, August 5 was also observed as ‘Babita Day’ in North Texas in her honour. Earlier this year, she received the Ekushey Padak for her contribution to the country’s film industry.
