Ashulia Women and Children Hospital (AWCH) has successfully conducted the normal vaginal delivery of triplets at 36 weeks of pregnancy recently, with the mother and all three newborns in good health, a press release said on Tuesday.
The newborns are a 1.8kg girl, a 2kg boy, and a 2.7kg girl. The patient had received regular antenatal care at AWCH under the supervision of expert doctors.
Although caesarean delivery had been advised at several other hospitals, the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team under Professor Anjuman Ara Rita and Dr Mustari Farhana carefully managed the high-risk pregnancy and delivered all three babies vaginally, the press release added.
AWCH CEO Dabir Uddin Ahmed said the outcome reflects the expertise, clinical judgement and teamwork of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Perinatal and Paediatric teams.
“As a nonprofit philanthropic hospital, AWCH is committed to providing quality and affordable healthcare, particularly to women, children and underserved communities,” he said.
The Perinatal and Paediatric teams were closely involved in preparing for the delivery and providing specialised newborn care.
